The LG GD510 Pop is a Tidy Package of Affordable Smartphone Technology

LG GD510 Pop Mobile Phone
For an affordable touch responsive Smartphone the LG GD510 Pop is perfect just what the doctor ordered! It comes complete with a digital camera for the snap happy consumers, a competent web browser which offers an easy to use service when browsing the internet and complete access to your favourite social networking sites. All of this is delivered via its LG A-Class user interface and is brightly delivered through the 3 inch touch screen.

The LG Pop offers an inexpensive package of basic Smartphone functionality to its user, the phones A-Class 3-way interface gives you 3 home screens to work from by swiping, they can be customised to your personal preference by dragging and dropping widgets from your toolbar on to the screen, then with a quick shake of the Pop all of your widgets are neatly ordered. Access to all of your communication options and multimedia functions is granted from these screens all via some graphically expressed icons, all of the various applications and features the Pop supports are represented by colourfully painted icons, in fact the whole interface has a colourful paint job and delivers a fun and vibrant experience, especially as the WQVGA comfortably renders up to 262,000 colours. LiveSquare is another peculiar feature on the Pop, it saves all of your recently used contacts and parades them around a cartoon style landscape as colourful, lively avatars; when you toggle an avatar the phone gives you a series of options, whether you want call or message them, or even edit there information, alternatively, and this is much more fun, you can drag and drop one of the animations to the function you wish to initiate the action.

With the lack of any apparent 3G or Wi Fi connectivity the LG GD510 relies heavily on its Quad band Edge connection, which means that full web pages do take a little while to load, but mobile compatible sites are quickly rendered and uncomplicated to navigate. The device has a dedicated social networking application, this gives you access to Facebook, Twitter and MySpace accounts, and they can all be managed simultaneously.

The LG Pop comes complete with a 3 mega pixel digital camera; while the camera has a well balanced, organised display of its functions, the camera itself unfortunately lacks flash and auto focus, so the camera interface is easy to use but the general functionality is nothing more than standard. Video capture is again, standard; it shoots at 12 fps but on the upside it does enable immediate upload to sites like YouTube by means of the Send options button.

The Pop's Multimedia player manages to playback downloaded mp4 and.3gp videos well, colour rendition is good and video runs very smoothly, cleverly frame capture has been included to capture a frame of footage and save it as a jpeg. image. The music player functions well, the interface routinely organises your loaded tracks into various categories like, artist and genre, the usability is also good with conventional controls and functions including a range of equaliser options and slide-able time lines.
